The Critters sent me to Country Kettle this week to pick up an assortment of licorice for the 365 Toy Group theme. And although "Licorice Day celebrates the rich history of Black Licorice" I was not going to buy it! I've never liked it but I don't mind the red kind. However, I discovered that Country Kettle has more than your average black and red variety of licorice, they also have grape, cinnamon, peach, orange, strawberry, green apple, cherry, pina colada and CHOCOLATE!! I didn't buy all of them, but I did get a few. So after the Critters took their Toy Group shot, Piggy decided we should all see if those flavored licorice sticks actually tasted like their names!
They all look very happy being submerged in liquorice! Its come back into fashion now with all the flavours. My favourite favourite is a chocolate liquorice log! I have to avert my eyes when walking past this display!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Well, we sampled the strawberry, cherry, peach, cinnamon, grape and chocolate. We were soooo excited about the chocolate, but it wasn't as good as we thought it was going to be. It wasn't bad, but the peach was actually better!
@pandorasecho Yes- but why settle for gummies, jellies or licorice when you can forego all that and just have chocolates! But to be honest, I am not really a huge fan of the other licorice flavors either. @creativeaddict Thank you Laur! That was the first time I'd been in there as I really do try to watch the amount of sugar I eat. Thankfully the candy they sell out of the barrels are things I'm not tempted by- licorice, gummies and jellies. I focused on the barrels and forced myself not to look at the chocolates!!
Yes. Pretend the chocolate isn't there. Walk away, quickly. Have you ever had Trader Joe's Belgium pound plus chocolate bars or their truffles? The Belgium milk chocolate bars I buy 1 a year for xmas presents. Too dangerous. The last one I had wasn't good though so I hope that was just a fluke.
@creativeaddict Somebody gave me Trader Joe's chocolate something or other once- obviously it didn't last long enough for me to remember the name. I have also "banned for life" Chocolate Dipped Oreos. (o:
