This little creature couldn't have been a 1/2" long, but if we slow down long enough to look, we can see nature's beauty. sooc
so small, so nice!

@cocobella @kauaikris @glendq Thanks you! All these little shells look the same until you get right down on them. Unfortunately, my ISO was going jumping up to 1600 and most of the shots looked pretty bad. But there is always tomorrow...

Is he alive? We have them here too only the colours are a little dull in comparison. Just like our birds plumage blends into the surroundings.

@hermann @gilbertwood @cndglnn @craig3f2 @congaree @thimblelady Thanks for your kind comments & fav's. I looked this up and it is a Dotted Periwinkle. They reach 1" and are found in Hawaii and the Indo-Pacific area.

@seaside Barb, yes it's alive. These snails are found in the spray zone of the ocean. Either in the water or just above. From even two feet away, it just looks drab black or brown. Not until getting a within a few inches did I see the patterns. A fun discovery :)

@shazzym Thank you. Isn't it amazing how many times we just hurry by and don't even notice how beautiful things are?
