UGG

I was going to the movie this afternoon and I parked in front of the local shoe store. I thought my Aussie friends would appreciate the sign in the window.

Do those from Australia find the word Aussie insulting or unfriendly? If so speak up.

Not at all, Susan. We use it all the time, you might have noticed from my posts. Quite friendly to us. We often shorten to Oz for the country.
And this is a great sign to see in the midst of all that snow. Hope the uggs are keeping lots of you very cosy in this cold weather.

@girlie Thanks. I have several e-mail friends from Oz and I use those terms with them, but wasn't sure if I sure use them in general with everyone.

I agree with Robin, we use it all the time, hence the chant that seems to go up at any sort of international sports event, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi. Although whenever I hear an American say it out loud, it sounds wrong. You tend to use a soft 's' sound, so it sort of sounds like 'hossie'. We say it with a 'z' sound, think Ozzy Osborne.
