A Long Way From Home

On my walk down to the marina on Sunday I spotted this vessel moored at the Anchorage as I walked around the breakwater. I did a bit of checking on it when I returned home and discovered that it is one of three vessels as part of the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) fleet in Newcastle, NSW. YWAM is a Christian organization and their vessels deliver healthcare, medical needs and medicines to PNG. The yacht is called the S/Y Ruach and is registered in the Cook Islands.

Apparently it arrived here a few days ago after a voyage from its last destination of Hervey Bay. I guess it has just returned from PNG to Hervey Bay and now here to The Anchorage.

Why has it arrived here and not Newcastle I have no idea and how has it managed to be sailing during lockdown when borders in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria are closed.

Covid is rife in PNG at the moment so I do hope the volunteers on the vessel haven't brought Covid back with them.
Fascinating story of the boat! Nice image too.
