Classic House in Hamilton

While we were walking back to the car after our day in Hamilton we passed lots of really interesting old houses. I just loved this particular house and would love to know its history.

Hamilton is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, located 4 kilometres from Newcastle's CBD.

Hamilton became a municipality on 11 December 1871 and was named in honour of Edward Terrick Hamilton, who was then Governor of the board of directors of the Australian Agricultural Company from August 1857 to September 1898.
So very British, a stunning building.

What a lovely old house. Pity about the tree sticking up right in front.....cutting off light!

Whilst I couldn't imagine choosing this colour scheme for a house, it has much grace and favour, enhanced by the (local?) brick.
@cutekitty I wonder if the tree is protected?

Lovely old house. I agree about the tree, it does spoil the lines of the house.

It looks such a blend of English Edwardian and a Queenslander style verandah - love the colour scheme. Wonderful building. I'd buy it!
