Who put washing up liquid in the fountain?

I had a medical appointment in Newcastle today and afterwards went into town to take photos. I noticed that the fountain in front of the Customs House had thick foam on it. Whether this was deliberate or caused by vandals I am not sure, but it looked as though someone had poured washing up liquid in the water. Certainly different!

Either way, it looks really cool.

Makes a great photo whatever it is. Very well captured! It could even be bleach - we put a tiny bit of bleach in the water feature we have in the garden to try and stop it smelling and going green. We only put a tiny bit as the birds do seem to use it and we were worried about harming them - the result was something like this!!!!

@joluise @elaine55 @gypsy6 @gerry @marie65 @gamelee @tesssa Thanks for your interest in this shot. I think Paula Watts @paulaw may have hit the nail on the head though. Could be bleach as she suggested or something similar. It didn't smell of bleach though. someone could have just overdone the cleansing process. If it was deliberate it could keep the mozzies down though. If anyone finds out let me know. Perhaps I should have asked while I was there.

@rhos Looks a bit like snow doesn't it. Luckily we don't get snow here.

@paulaw Thanks Paula. Interesting point. I don't think it was bleach because I couldn't smell it, but could have been some sort of cleansing agent even if a bit overdone!!! It will keep the mozzies down though.

@angelat I've never seen it like that before either. Definitely a mystery. Welcome to 365 and for the follow. I will follow back. If you go to Newcastle again soon check out the fountain and see if it is still the same!!!

@onewing whatever it is Babs it makes a good photo. You would have smelt bleach. I think it is a great effect.

@elaine55 @gypsy6 Thanks Elaine, I thought it looked interesting too. It reminded me of the time when our girls were small and they poured a whole bottle of shampoo in the bath water while they were in it. They were very clean at the end though and smelt really nice. It took hours to wash it all down the plug hole. Do you remember that Deb?

Deb
@onewing Er no. Seem to have conveniently forgotten that one:)

I'm almost tempted to put some colour in with the detergent! now wouldn't that be fun? certainly not implying there's anything wrong with your photo though. Just my mischievous mind!

@angelat If the next time I see the fountain the foam is a different colour I won't say a word!!!

Great shot! People used to put washing up liquid in the fountain in our city. Then they took the fountain away. Not sure if the two were connected!

How fascinating Babs. Sorry I missed that!
May 13th, 2013
@ginnykoppenhol Thanks Ginny. Don't think they will take this fountain away!!!

@winnedreamer Thanks Nic. You'll see it when we go on the photo club outing.
