Not having a good day today. A bit of a sad day, so haven't taken any photos. Thought I would add this filler, which I took quite a while ago, because I was pleased with the result for a couple of reasons.
The subject for our photo club was 'Stop Motion' and at the time I was the one who was stopped in motion because I had a broken ankle. I'd had surgery to Meccano it back together with metal and screws and was unable to walk. So I thought how on earth am I going to take a photo of stop motion other than photographing my ankle.
Then I came up with an idea. I wheeled myself over to the kitchen sink, set the tap dripping and with my little Canon point and shoot I got this shot on the third drip. I was really pleased with the result.
At the photo club meeting I got first place for my 'stop motion' picture, but probably I got either the sympathy vote or maybe it was the cripple vote!!! Still cheered me up though whatever it was.
Brilliant droplet shot! These are not easy to come by (I usually go through hundreds of shots before I get a drop in focus) - but yours is perfectly composed and with interesting refractions to boot :)
First of all I pray you recover quickly. Now for the pic...I so love it. What a great stop motion. Do you always use the Canon A580? Mine is Canon 2500 HD. Still playing with all the different settings. Too many..HA :)
Babs, this is sooo cool! I want to try it. Love it. Sorry that you have sad news and hope things will improve. I see you still have your sense of humor though! Best wishes!
This is such a great shot and I'm sure it won because of its greatness and no other reason. Sorry to hear it has been a sad day, I hope tomorrow is a brighter one Babs.
@goosemanning Thanks Sharon. Feeling much better today. Yesterday was just a very sad day.
Give this type of shot a try. I only used my little Canon point and shoot for this one. Haven't used that camera for a while, but it did the job. People at the photo club asked me how I took this photo and I said I went over to the kitchen sink, camera in hand, elbows on the edge of the sink, set the tap running and click. They were very surprised.
You do have to have the tap dripping at the right speed though, too fast and you miss the shot.
@judy365projectorg Thanks for your good wishes Judy. Felling much better today. To answer your question. I don't use my Canon very often now. I use a Panasonic Lumix FZ100 now. If I need anything bigger I use my husband's Nikon D90 or his D5100. Can't carry the weight of those too long though. I tend to use the advanced compact rather than a DSLR because of the weight. Does the job for me though.
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. Give it a go. Don't set the tap dripping too fast though.
Feeling much brighter today. Yesterday was such a sad day on a lot of levels though. I bounce back and you are right the one thing you have to hang on to is your sense of humour.
@humphreyhippo Thanks. I was surprised at the results with the little Canon too. Perhaps I should get it out and use it again. Haven't used that camera for a while.
Today is a better day, thanks. Too many sad memories came back yesterday.
@angelar@paulaw@derekvickers@christinehosey@sunraye Thanks you all so much for your lovely comments and good wishes. Yesterday was a bit of a sad day. Events of the day brought back very sad memories for me, but I bounce back and today is much brighter. Found my sense of humour hiding under the bed and dragged it out again, so all will be well now.
May tomorrow be better - it sounds like you need a sent your way and a cup of tea. xxx
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
I wish my wishing you better could make it so; 'cause I'm wishing!!
