Super moon minus one by onewing

Super moon minus one

I haven't had chance to take a photo today as I have been catching up on chores at home and emails etc.

I did intend taking a photo of the super moon, but unfortunately, that day was our photo club outing, followed by lunch and followed by a photo club committee meeting and when I got home I forgot all about taking a photo of the moon. Sad when the brain goes.

I took this photo the day before the super moon so that I could make sure the settings were right on the day.

I have never taken a photo of the moon before, so this was my first ever attempt. David is the one in our family who takes photos like this and I don't usually compete with him, as he not only does a better job of it, he also has a much better camera than I have. Having said that I am quite pleased with the results though.

I think this is very impressive. I know what a difficult subject it is.

You should have used his camera Babs. Good shot all the same. So why is yours a sepia colour and mine is grey? I wouldn't have thought you had any smoke or dust in the atmosphere down there.

Mine turned out similar colour too except I then played with it. Great detail.

@terryliv Don't know why mine is sepia and yours is grey Terry. David took a photo too and his is the same colour. All I can think of is that this was taken just on sunset and so it wasn't entirely dark. Because the focus was on the moon maybe the sunset made the difference with the lighting. The moon was this colour though and not grey. So other than that explanation, buggered if I know, ha ha.

Babs, this is fabulous, well done. I have tried moon shots before and I am useless at them.

Fabulous detail, Babs.
August 13th, 2014
Very cool! How do you get all of the detail in the moon? My shots are white without too much of the intricate details.

@chimfa Of course you can show it at your astronomy club Jane. I will be world famous then, ha ha.

@april16 I took this shot before it went dark and I think the daylight made the difference on the focus. Give that a try and see how it goes.
