Last night there was a lunar eclipse and David and I wandered down to the beach to try and get a photo of it. Unfortunately, this was taken 5 minutes before the eclipse began and as you can see the moon is rapidly disappearing behind thick clouds. No eclipse here last night, the clouds were so thick you could have cut them with a knife. ha ha. I still like the colours though as the moon disappears into the clouds over the Heads. The headland on the left is Yacaaba and the one on the right is Tomaree.
Drat!!! Dontcha hate it when that happens? I had a great view, but my attempts to photograph it were dismal. Don't usually take night shots - more practice definitely needed!!
As a moon atmospheric shot , I prefer this look. The soft evening colours are quite moving, caressing and velvety. It is always lovely to see the stairway to the moon, too
@gamelee Thanks Lee and for the fav. It was really interesting, because even when the moon had disappeared behind the cloud you could still see the reflection on the water. So strange.

Wow what an amazing response to this photo. Thank you all so much. Just noticed that it got on the PP. I am so glad I missed the eclipse now. It was such a peaceful scene on the beach, I just loved the colours and as we sat there we saw black swans, pelicans skimming the water on their way home for the night, dolphins doing a spot of night fishing. Who could ask for more than that.
Sorry for the group reply, but it is getting pretty late and my eyes are crossing. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and favs on this shot. I think the evening turned out better than the watching the eclipse after all. It was so beautiful sitting down at the beach, the colours were marvellous. there were three black swans sitting on the beach, pelicans flying past just skimming the water and 3 dolphins doing a spot of evening fishing. Who could ask for more than that. So peaceful.
