We have been at Raymond Terrace today with the walking group, lunch at the pub by the river and tonight we are out at our weekly trivia night at the tavern, so I won't be able to check out your pictures until tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who commented on my photos yesterday and in the last couple of days. Will reply when I get chance tomorrow.
This picture is of a mosaic by the river at Raymond Terrace and it is called The Rainbow Serpent.
The Rainbow Serpent features in the Dreaming stories of many Aboriginal people including the Worimi of Port Stephens and is always associated with watercourses, such as billabongs, rivers, creeks and lagoons. The Rainbow Serpent is the protector of the land, its people and the source of all life. However, the Rainbow Serpent can also be a destructive force if it is not properly respected.
This sculpture was designed by the Raymond Terrace community over a series of workshops facilitated through Thou-Walla Family Centre. Over 620 parents, children and community members participated in these workshops.
@shepherdman Thanks so much and for dropping by. It is very hot here at the moment and it isn't officially summer until the 1st December. I guess we are going to have a long hot summer ahead. Already had 3 large bush fires in our area.
@derekvickers Thanks Derek. summer has arrived and it is still only Spring too. Not officially summer until the 1st December. 39 degrees C here yesterday too. We nearly melted.
