I am posting early again today because in about an hour we have to go to our local library to change over our photo exhibition pictures.
This batch of photos will be there for 2 weeks and then only one more change before the exhibition finishes just before Christmas.
Tonight we are out for an early dinner and then to the photo club, so another busy day.
Thanks to everyone who commented on my photos yesterday. I have tried to catch up on your shots this morning. Limited on time last night again due to thunder storms in our area.
I spotted this pelican looking so relaxed on the breakwater at the marina. I decided to crop the shot close to make him look even more squashed than he did already. I think he had been fed a few off cuts of fish because there were a few fishermen nearby, so he wasn't moving anywhere in a hurry.
@beryl Yes Beryl, he is for real. We have lots of pelicans here in Port Stephens and they are so used to people taking photos of them that the don't even move when you get close. Mind you with a beak like that he could certainly get a bit snappy if he wanted to.
@onewing So amazing -- he nearly looks like a soft toy -- the eye looks like a sewn on felt eye ! -- He is gorgeous and a fav , Babs for such a beautifully detailed image !
@beryl Thanks so much for the fav Beryl. I agree they don't look real do they. David's uncle used to always say "Clockwork you know", whenever he saw pelicans. I think it's the eye that does it.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments and favs. We are so lucky here to have so many rather tame pelicans to photograph. This one didn't even move when I got really close to photograph him. I think he had his eye on a chap who was fishing nearby though and in the process of gutting one of his fish. I am sure he threw the waste bits for the pelican.
