Took my car in for annual roadworthy this morning and spotted this water dragon sunning himself on an old tyre.
I think he spotted me, but he wasn't in a hurry to move.
Keeping my eye on the news at the moment as there is a siege situation at the Lindt Café in Martin Place in Sydney. Been going on all day. Five people so far have either escaped or been released, but that area of Sydney is in lockdown at the moment. Hope all ends well.
Beautiful shot! I like the red color on his stomach. I live in New York and we've been hearing about the situation in the café in Sydney all evening! As you say, I hope that it ends well.
Lovely capture Babs. Well spotted he does look like a dragon. The siege in Sydney is the lead item on all our radio news bulletins in the UK. Hope it ends well.
A sad day in Australia today as the siege has ended in tragedy. No doubt you will have heard the outcome and my thoughts are with the hostages and the families of all those involved.
I haven't seen the news at all for the past few days. Will have to google but can just guess what is happening there. Hard to see how such things can happen. I do like your shot...sorry it had to be on such a sad day for Australia.
@taffy Thanks Taffy. Unfortunately, the events at the Lindt Café in Martin Place, Sydney ended in tragedy in the early hours of this morning when two of the hostages died. A sad day for Australia. Also the terrorist who was holding the hostages died too.
@eyesmile Thanks Gena, water dragons really are so beautiful. This one didn't mind me taking photos of him. The 'log' he is sunning himself on is an old tyre at the car yard where my car was in for its annual roadworthy test.
@golftragic I love the little geckos too, we used to get a lot of them in Cyprus, they used to call them chit chats out there because of the noise they made.
@onewing Oh you lucky thing, you. My son had one in residence in the bathroom at his Lao house which completely ignored all human comings and goings and just went on doing its thing.

Lovely fellow you found, he looks pretty comfy there.
Thanks everyone, this dragon is an adult male, hence the red belly. I think he is probably about 80 cm long, but I couldn't see the end of his tail so can't be sure, could be slightly longer.
