A lovely shot and light on the two against that stormy sky . Ha ! it looks as if they are not the first to sit up there by the state of the lamp on the top of the pole !
Ah Pelicans......was going to ask & then I saw Sally's comment above....not a bird we see sitting atop of poles in the UK! They look amazing balancing there! So hot...how do you cope.....a haircut must have been a relief!
Had the same sort of day here. Looking like rain tonight but nothing as yet. The sky looks very ominous in this shot. Love it. hope our temps improve tomorrow.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. I agree, hate vacuuming, but I have to show willing occasionally. Got visitors coming for the weekend too, so need to tidy up a bit.
@happypat Thanks Pat. we get a lot of pelicans here, especially here on the breakwater. they watch the fishermen. The haircut is a relief. The heat isn't too bad. I can take any amount of heat it is just when it gets humid that it becomes a problem and although it has gone a bit cooler tonight, still around 28 degrees at 11 pm but 80% humidity is the killer.
@bella_ss Thanks Sheralee, yes it is a favourite spot. Anywhere along the breakwater where there is a pole or street light they perch themselves for the evening.
@karlow75 Thanks Kane, this is at the marina in Nelson Bay along the breakwater and is a favourite spot for the pelicans, they watch the fishermen from here. Gone a bit cooler tonight still around 28 degrees but 80% humidity which is the killer
@ubobohobo Thanks Margaret, the storm came and went pretty quick last night and only 6 mm rain according to our rain gauge, but because it was so sunny today and hot the humidity was through the roof.
My goodness they were close. How I wish I could find them that close here . They sure are a sight to see flying here . No pelicans at home and my time is running out :-(
Pelicans! How we love 'em. and they are up there doing what Pelicans do and making us wonder how well they have adapted to towns and suburbs near water.
@lesip Thanks Leslie. There are so many pelicans here and they let you get really close to them to take photos too. They are used to people near them as they follow the people fishing trying to pinch their catch.
@golftragic Thanks Marnie. Actually the storm was a bit of a fizzer. It blew in and out again so quick. Somebody got it, but we were just on the edge of it. Only generated 6 mm rain too according to our rain gauge.
@ethelperry Thanks Ethel. Nelson Bay is like heaven for them. Lots of fishermen who throw them the guts of the fish they catch and plenty of fish in the ocean too. You don't see a hungry pelican where I live.
