I have been back to the hospital today, had another xray and had the back slab removed. I now have to wear a splint for the next month.
Here is a photo of my wrist. You can see the plate and screws in the radius bone and if you look closely you can see that the tip of the ulna has a piece broken off it. That will stay that way though and will just float for the rest of my life.
Hopefully I will be a bit more mobile now the cast is removed but I still can't lift anything with my left hand for another four weeks.
A great reminder to still take care and give the wrist time to heal -- I also saw the consultant yesterday - another 4 weeks in a sling - no lifting and only passive exercise then back to see the consultant and further x rays !! We could do one good one if we shared the good arms !! Best wishes Babs !
Although it's breaking news and a fractured wrist, it makes, in my opinion, a very elegant photo. Take care, Babs. Shall show Ray who is interested in all things medical.
I have had so many scans and xrays of my innards over the years that when I die my daughter will be able to put all my xrays etc together on the floor and tell the grandchildren that this is what Nanna looks like on the inside. ha ha.
@pusspup Ha ha, if I fell over again I am sure that my left wrist and left ankle (also plated and screwed) would be about the only bit of me not likely to break again.
Sally comment is so funny. I agree with her and wish you a speedy recovery with not complications. I hate to hear that you will not be able to use you hand.
@annied@cruiser Definitely more mobile now, still not permitted to lift anything or put any weight on my left wrist though for anoterh month. @shesnapped It does look like a bug doesn't it, almost alien.
