Breaking News

I have been back to the hospital today, had another xray and had the back slab removed. I now have to wear a splint for the next month.

Here is a photo of my wrist. You can see the plate and screws in the radius bone and if you look closely you can see that the tip of the ulna has a piece broken off it. That will stay that way though and will just float for the rest of my life.

Hopefully I will be a bit more mobile now the cast is removed but I still can't lift anything with my left hand for another four weeks.
You are a Bionic Woman Babs... hope all carries on healing well..

There is no rushing it, is there? One just needs to wait until in is healed.

A great reminder to still take care and give the wrist time to heal -- I also saw the consultant yesterday - another 4 weeks in a sling - no lifting and only passive exercise then back to see the consultant and further x rays !! We could do one good one if we shared the good arms !! Best wishes Babs !

A very unique shot, Babs, so pleased you are improving.
August 25th, 2015
Ouch!! So glad it's on the mend Babs.

Although it's breaking news and a fractured wrist, it makes, in my opinion, a very elegant photo. Take care, Babs. Shall show Ray who is interested in all things medical.

Great x-ray and title :) Take care :)

Beautifully executed Xray Babs but can I say the plate and screw look like an alien critter. Glad you are out of the backslab :)
August 25th, 2015
Well Iron Lady, look after yourself. Interesting XRay.

@julzmaioro @leananiemand @happysnaps @thistle @gilbertwood @hermann @777margo @yaorenliu @gigiflower @sioux @darthkitty @denisef58 Thanks everyone, I already have a plate and screws in my left ankle when I broke it a few years ago. I think I had better stay away from strong magnets now. I can type a lot better now the cast has been removed and I am down to just a splint.

I have had so many scans and xrays of my innards over the years that when I die my daughter will be able to put all my xrays etc together on the floor and tell the grandchildren that this is what Nanna looks like on the inside. ha ha.

@beryl Ha ha, wish you lived nearer Beryl, we would make a great team. Hope all goes well with you.
August 25th, 2015
@pusspup Ha ha, if I fell over again I am sure that my left wrist and left ankle (also plated and screwed) would be about the only bit of me not likely to break again.
August 25th, 2015
Ouch! Heal quickly!
August 25th, 2015
Enjoy your new mobility, as restricted as it is.
August 25th, 2015

Sally comment is so funny. I agree with her and wish you a speedy recovery with not complications. I hate to hear that you will not be able to use you hand.

I sure hope that you are right handed. Glad to see things are improving.
August 25th, 2015
Wow look at you, wishing you a speedy recovery. Is it me or does the plate and screws look like an insect ?
August 25th, 2015
Ouch! I prefer the pictures of you taken of the outside!
August 25th, 2015
Oh gosh -- this is beautiful, but what an awful way to have ended up with this photo.
August 26th, 2015
It looks like an alien in there! Great shot of the x-ray.
August 26th, 2015

@soboy5 @karlow75 @photographycrazy @deborah63 @sdutoit @mittens @dolphin @bkbinthecity @seattlite @susanalena @shailestha @mbmomentsintime @salza @pippie @thimblelady @scarybird @chimfa @taffy @888rachel @beachdog Thank you all so much. I am a bit more mobile now and I can type again, but I am unable to lift anything with my left hand or drive the car for another month. It does look rather alien doesn't it Rachel, that is what I thought.
August 26th, 2015
hope it continues to improve Babs - and that healing time is quick not slow
August 26th, 2015
those bolts look pretty fierce. I agree it looks like a bug of some sort. Great pic to have
August 26th, 2015
Yes - a bug. Exactly what I thought! Take care Babs!
August 27th, 2015
@annied @cruiser Definitely more mobile now, still not permitted to lift anything or put any weight on my left wrist though for anoterh month. @shesnapped It does look like a bug doesn't it, almost alien.
August 27th, 2015
Oh heavens! Looks a bit like the "scorpion" I have in my shoulder. Take care and good luck through the recovery.
