I took this photo at Maitland Steamfest yesterday. It was the 30th anniversary of the Steamfest and one of the highlights of the day was the Great Train Race featuring steam engines 3016, 3642, 5917 and 6029 running parallel together whilst racing four Tiger Moth aeroplanes.
The race began at Broadmeadow and ended at Maitland. This is a photo of the winning train as it arrived at Maitland Station, hauled by a huge Bayer-Garratt loco that was built in Manchester in the UK.
Fabulous shot Babs. I saw the steam engine on my way to work last week. I also have great shots of the last steam train at Newcastle station. Following now.
