Street Art

After yesterday's Requiem for a Soldier street art, I thought I would continue with this piece of street art from the centre of Newcastle. The street art on this street changes at regular intervals.

I am posting a bit earlier today because after a day spent painting our bedroom, we are out at the photo club this evening.

This is the place I can dance along - down the slope though. Cool capture.

You have an abundance of street art, so Melbourne had better watch out. we boast of being the street art capital of the world.

Graffiti artists always seem to have ongoing work.....I wonder if they get paid off doing it? Painting your bedroom is a calmer result than this I hope Babs!

Great shot - so colourful and love the perspective showing the sloping hill! Fav
April 26th, 2016
Great shot, it's good of the artists to keep changing the art, it gives you lots more photo opportunities!

HI Babs, where was this taken, I haven't spotted it as yet. I was in Melbourne at the weekend and saw some great stuff but I think Newcastle would rival anything they have down there. We should set up street art tours!
April 27th, 2016
That's a beauty Babs, well spotted.

@susiangelgirl I agree Newcastle can rival Melbourne. Here is a link to the Hit the Bricks Festival map of street art for 2013 and 2014 in Newcastle.

and also I did a month of street art on my 365 in January 2014 and 2015 Here are the links to those too.

This photo today is on Thorn Street just off Hunter Street. I have taken more photos of the street art around Newcastle too from the above map. My favourite is of the aboriginal boy at Wickham. A similar one appears in Melbourne too as the artist is from Melbourne.
Happy snapping.

@yaorenliu Definitely better to dance down the slope rather than up it.
April 27th, 2016
@ethelperry Thanks Ethel. I think we can give you a run for your money in Newcastle.

As you know I am a big fan of street art and we have so many great examples in Newcastle. Must go out again soon and capture some of the great Hit the Bricks artworks that I have missed so far.
April 27th, 2016
@happypat I am not sure about this particular artwork, but others that I have posted for the Hit the Bricks festivals have all been commissioned and the artists are internationally famous. Most have exhibitions around Australia too.
Our bedroom painting is much calmer that this. Next is painting the dining room and then on to the lounge room once our new wood burner fire has been installed next week. It is all go. Hope you are in less pain now and able to get about a bit more.
April 27th, 2016
@onewing Sounds wonderful Babs, a wood burner will be lovely this winter!
April 27th, 2016
@onewing I've got a photo of the aboriginal boy in Wickham on 20 Jan which you commented on. I saw another one of his in the Melbourne laneway but the light wasn't right and I couldn't get a good shot.

Thanks for the links and the info.
