A Little Bit of History

I just love all the old buildings at Morpeth and this old slab cottage has such character, it was built in the 1840s.

This gorgeous old cottage is now a pottery.

I would like to visit Morpeth. Will be up at Lake Macquarie in a week or so but probably wont have time as we are visiting Keith's mum aged 96 for a few days. Have really enjoyed seeing your photos.

Oh your towns seem to be named after towns in the North East of England. I know Newcastle and Morpeth UK well!

Old buildings like these lend themselves so well to gift type shops, it's good that they can be a useful & quaint part of modern life.

Plenty of character & so different from the UK & the UK Morpeth.

@busylady A lot of our towns and villages are named after UK places because the first settlers in the areas thought they looked like the villages in UK. Newcastle here of course was named because of the coal and steel. Morpeth is a quaint village on the river and became an early staging post for the Hunter Valley.
