I spotted this striated heron doing a bit of fishing and he was just sitting with his neck curled in. All of a sudden his neck stretched and got longer and longer and I gathered that he has seen something interesting.
Whatever he saw turned out not to be as interesting as he first thought and he relaxed again on the rock.
Luckily when I took this photo there was one of our walkers who is a member of the bird watching group and she told me what type of bird this was. As I was photographing it, its neck got longer and longer and I didn't think it was going to stop.
We are so lucky here to have such clear water in the bay too, so this heron didn't have any problems finding his lunch.
