We're Having a Party

It has bucketed down with rain all day today, so no photos.

I did go out a couple of times to Bunnings to buy a new toilet seat and new door and drawer knobs for the bathroom vanity and got soaked both times.

I took this photo yesterday when I put out some bread and seed for the lorikeets, as you can see it was very popular.

Not sure just how many rainbow lorikeets there were here but probably in the region of 40 or 50 at any one time. The food didn't last long as you can imagine.
Wow...alot of lorrikeets. Great capture.

June 19th, 2016
What a treat to have these colourful birds in your garden Babs, the biggest contrast between the UK & Australia I think! You would never see birds like this & wild in your garden too. Would take some getting over the thrill I think!
June 19th, 2016
How wonderful
June 19th, 2016
and all the friends-and-relations are invited! :) lovely shot
June 19th, 2016
Wow Babs!! That's amazing. I would have been impressed if you'd posted a picture of just 1 lorikeet. They're beautiful. Fav.
June 19th, 2016
I can just imagine the noise :)
June 19th, 2016
This looks so unreal to me. I am glad you explained that they were actually all there otherwise I might have concluded that they were all expertly photoshopped in. What a scene!
June 19th, 2016
This is very pretty!! A FAV
June 20th, 2016
Yours was the place to be! I like that one on the arm of the chair, looking at you quizzically.
June 20th, 2016
Looks like they love what you put out for them. Excellent capture.
June 20th, 2016
@leestevo @beryl @yaorenliu @shesnapped @salza @quietpurplehaze @julzmaioro @gamelee @happysnaps @cmp @karens54 @olenadole @merrelyn @dianeburns @bkbinthecity @seattlite @pippie @cherrymartina @craftymeg @dizzyd @pcoulson @elisasaeter @dawnee @dawnee @koalagardens @susiemc @hermann @helenhall @777margo @888rachel Thanks everyone. Only when we are expecting wild weather to come our way do we get lorikeets in such great numbers. They are regular visitors, but I suppose they reckon that they have to stock up on food when it is about to turn rather windy. There were lots more in the trees above this too so probably around 80 birds altogether I would imagine.
June 20th, 2016
@bella_ss Lovely of you to drop by Sheralee. Hope you are okay.
June 20th, 2016
@ethelperry I had put out the food earlier and it wasn't until a friend turned up that I heard the racket the birds were making. It was deafening.
June 20th, 2016
@deborah63 Just mixed seed and a small amount of left over Turkish bread. It was very popular
June 20th, 2016
@ladymagpie Ha ha, they were pretty noisy and excited.
June 20th, 2016
@paulmann Thanks Paul. I spend as little time as possible at Bunnings. David is the one who has to visit regularly. I think his car can get there on autopilot.
June 20th, 2016
I was excited that I captured about 12 lorikeets in my apple tree just before i went away - you've really made mine look so small :)
June 20th, 2016
@happypat Thanks Pat. Not only were there about 80 lorikeets here, some in the trees that you can't see in this shot, but there were also a gang noisy miners waiting their turn, a couple of butcher birds and four kookaburras that I was feeding with raw mince too. They all know where to come for lunch.
June 20th, 2016
wow you are lucky to have such visitors. the coming bad weather must wip them into a feeding frenzy
June 20th, 2016
@cruiser The wind and rain does make them rather excited.
