Tin City 2 by onewing

Tin City 2

Thanks again for the great response to yesterday's Tin City photo.

I have been out today with our regular 'girlie lunch' so no time for photos, so here is another shot of some more of the shacks at Tin City.

There are 11 shacks in all, well at least there were the last time I was there. They regularly get dug out as the sand shifts and after our storms a couple of months ago I wonder if any have gone for good. I will have to go back again and see.

If anyone is interested, here is a link which explains about the dunes and also there is a video clip in there too which is interesting.

Interesting to see them from this angle, I didn't realise there were so many of them. I notice the sign there on one of them saying "keep out."

There is a video clip which is interesting too in this link, but it takes a minute or two for it to come through. You can read the information before you click on the video though.
You will be pleased to know that we didn't drive there in our 4wd's or quad bikes, we did it the hard way and walked the three 3m through national park and then over the dunes. Hard going but worth the trek.

Great shot Babs. I always learn something on 365 I had no idea of the existence of this place.

@susiangelgirl You can go on tours to Tin City from Birubi Beach at Anna Bay. http://www.portstephensadventure.com.au/prices.php
Or if you are really adventurous you can walk it from Nelson Bay Road like we did.

Looks rather desolate.

Very interesting

That could almost be one of those deserted desert towns. Very interesting place.
July 28th, 2016
The effect is of a sinking town!
July 28th, 2016
@taffy It is desolate and quite a hike to get there too.

@golftragic It is interesting. They don't like visitors though. Some have the shacks have huge KEEP OUT signs on them. There are only 11 shacks now and we heard and saw a couple of dogs barking while we were there but didn't see any residents. Maybe they were peeping at us through the corrugated iron curtains.
