We Are Melting! by onewing

We Are Melting!

I have been hibernating today because of the heat. Roll on Monday when a cool change is forecast.

I had to drive David to a friends house this afternoon and it took a while before I could hold the steering wheel with more than just one finger and one thumb until the aircon kicked in. Luckily the friend is driving him home, so I don't have to go out again.

Fans and aircon are going like the clappers at the moment.

February is the only month I really dislike here in Australia. It is always hot and humid, but this year is particularly hot. We are melting this weekend.

I have had a lovely day of photography and playing with Photoshop. I will post some of the photos I have taken during the next few days.

There is no slightest wind by the look of the flame. I am melting just by looking at them.

I feel you Babs - have been hibernating here too - and melted when I walked outside

Hot Hot Hot...it takes its toll. We get a seabreeze here...so doing better than most. I like your photograph...
February 11th, 2017
So hot, it sounds unbearable Babs! I am enjoying 25deg here in Nz just a perfect temperature. Hope you keep cool.
February 11th, 2017
Excellent.....I love the heat, but yours sounds very difficult to live with......
February 11th, 2017
Terrific capture to signify the heat :) Hope your change comes soon!

I'm so glad we have missed this heatwave!

Brilliant, like it.

Certainly shows the difference between the hemispheres were freezing and your melting! Nice shot :)
February 11th, 2017
Babs, it's a total fire ban😊Fabulous photo and reflections.
February 11th, 2017
@365projectorgjenfurj We get a sea breeze here too, only live 200 metres from the beach, but no breeze today. Like being hit with a wet hot sponge when we set foot outside this evening.
February 11th, 2017
@onewing yes, so yuck. Hopefully after tomorrow that will be the end of the extreme temps for a while.
February 11th, 2017
Brilliant Fav
February 11th, 2017
@hrs as I said to Jen we live 200 metres from the beach but no sea breeze this evening. Got a text from the RFS saying catastrophic fire danger stay away from bushland. I think wr are in for a hot night

Very nice, love the reflections. Bring on that cool change I say :)
February 11th, 2017
Love those candle reflections Babs. T
February 11th, 2017
This is the perfect way to depict this awful weather we are having. We have just had a huge thunderstorm and luckily for once it was right over our house. We went out the front to capture the lightning and the rain has cooled things down slightly. I hope you stay cool over the weekend.
February 11th, 2017
This is an excellent visual of "melting from the heat"! It sounds like you could have just set the candles in the sun and they would have melted into puddles. Y'all are having a real heat wave, hope you get relief soon.
February 11th, 2017
Excellent image. I don't envy you your heat. I just couldn't stand it. Give me cooler temperatures any day 😊

February 11th, 2017
I great capture. I love the reflections. I wish we could swop some of our cold for some of your heat.
February 11th, 2017
This is a perfect concept shot that captures so well how you must all be feeling, and is an interesting composition on its own.
February 11th, 2017
I agree with TaffyR, this shot depicts how you are feeling. A beautiful image Babs and a definite fav. Hope it cools down for you soon.

Great idea for a photo and your capture! FAV!
February 12th, 2017
Great image Babs. Our turn today. Playing golf tomorrow :-)
February 12th, 2017
Stick a towel over it when you leave the car Babs. I can't get over the weather, all you guys (and northern Victoria) are sweltering and we can't get more than two hot days in a row. No-one has ripe tomatoes yet.
February 12th, 2017
Nicely shot.
February 12th, 2017
Beautiful shot, Babs, we are hoping for a cooler change too.....
February 12th, 2017
Great image - hopefully you get some rain to cool things down.
February 12th, 2017
Snap: February is the month I dislike here in England - grey, cold, wet sometimes, windy sometimes, roll on spring! Creative shot!
February 12th, 2017
@golftragic good thinking Batman. I do think of putting a towel over the steering wheel, unfortunately, I usually forget until it is too late.
February 12th, 2017
Really like this - how you've captured them at the point of melting completely
February 12th, 2017
I feel for you, at least I can wrap up and add more layers but there's not a lot you can do in the heat. Your melting candles just say it all, fave. I just hope it cools down soon for you.
February 12th, 2017
nice...fav
February 12th, 2017
@stephanies I remember cold Stephanie and it was very difficult to wrap up and keep warm from memory. In the heat we just move from air conditioned home, to air conditioned car, to air conditioned buildings and stay out of the heat of the day. Evenings are cooler and early mornings too so we cope. Much cooler today. We only usually get a few days of really high temperatures at a time and then some respite for a few days. February is our worst month for heat.
February 12th, 2017
I can't get my head around your February being so hot Babs..... I am glad you have air con though, as you know it rarely gets hot enough here to bother getting it installed.
February 12th, 2017
@onewing I used to have a sort of steering-wheel slip-on/off cover made from the silver stuff windscreen sunscreens are made of. That was good (and lived in the car in summer) but I've mislaid/lost it.
February 12th, 2017
Beautiful image. Another fav.
February 13th, 2017
Instant fav Babs.
February 13th, 2017
Fabulous shot! I sure could relate to those candles last week, wasn't it terrible!
February 18th, 2017
@kjarn It has been awful. A friend of ours has just phoned to see how bad the storm yesterday was here. They have been at Hornsby for a couple of days and the hail was so bad there he has got a lot of dings on his car. We only got marble size hail here.
Lovely to have a cool day today, only 21 degrees but quite a relief.
February 19th, 2017
Many people I know got quite a bit of hail damage yesterday, luckily no hail fell here. I'm loving today
