Here is the winning train in the Great Train Race at Maitland Steamfest on Sunday.
Two trains and a Tiger Moth aeroplane raced from Broadmeadow to Maitland. This year the Tiger Moth won the race and this train 3642 won the train part of the race with train 3016 being the runner up.
As you can see it is a close race with 3016 not too far behind.
It has been a long day today, we have been in Newcastle most of the day and then I dropped David off at home just before 4 pm and off I went to the hairdressers to have my hair cut. I have just got home and I am in desperate need of a cup of tea now, but I thought I would post my photo for today while the kettle is boiling.
Superb perspective, light and colour Babs, I may have cropped the shot a little on the left to remove the two poles and removed the blue sign in Photoshop if entering into a club competition, but in saying that don't know how you would find the time with your rich social life, still its a great shot and wonderful record of the race:)
Sounds a great day of fun. I like the POV and would not crop. The poles and overpass and twisty lines add to the atmosphere of what steam train activity is all about.
@pcoulson I can see what you mean about the blue sign, but I didn't want to crop the picture any closer because I wanted the trains to have somewhere to go. If I crop out the poles the rail lines are cut out too and you can't see the fact that the lines go straight and curve also.
@sailingmusic It is an annual race with the train running parallel. They sometimes have three trains racing, but the third engine this year was not able to be here because it needed repairs.
Well done for getting the two trains coming in together. My guess is that you got a lot of exercise running around after all of these trains. Great pov for this.
