Today David and I caught up with Nicole, @nicolecampbell Rob and their girls at Birubi Beach and had a lovely time with them. I will post the photos taken there tomorrow because I haven't had chance to download them to my computer yet.
I had to include a photo of David in my Steamfest photos though, so here is my last Steamfest photo.
This was taken on the steam train that featured in yesterday's photo during our trip to Branxton.
You may wonder about the purpose of the title. Well, when I was about seven years old I went for a ride on a steam train with my sister and Mum and of course, I had to stick my head out of the open window on the train didn't I! As a result I got some grit from the steam engine smoke in my eye and I ended up at the eye hospital because Mum couldn't remove it. At the hospital they had to turn my upper eyelid inside out to remove the huge piece of grit.
I think I must still be in therapy for that one, ha ha, because I can still think about it now donkeys years later.
I had an experience with a fish bone around the same age and did not eat fish until I was an adult - I am still very fussy about the filleting process :)
wonderful candid shot. I knew this shot was taken on the steam train as soon as I saw it. I bet David doesn't kneel down when in church - what we do because of the camera!
Your story made me think of the film "Brief Encounter," I'm sure you must have seen it? David looks busy there.. is that a monopod? or some other tripod thing?
Love your expression' donkeys years later' a real British phrase! I haven't heard that one for quite a while! Lovely wood inside that train. David is concentrating on his videoing!
What a lovely photo - David is concentrating well. My father used to take us on preserved railways and always told us not to put our head out of the window because of grit. Brings back happy memories.
I took a shot the other year out of a moving steam engine and you can see the large lumps of soot in the air it certainly wouldn't be pleasant to get one in your eye..
David was videoing the train as it went around a bend. good job he had the monopod to stabilize the camera because I think the carriages on the train had square wheels and it was very bumpy.
Grit in the eye sounds very painful. No wonder you have remembered it.
David looks full of concentration there. Nice shot.
