Refraction by onewing

Refraction

Yesterday I had another play with wine glass photography and this time I tried refraction.

It took a while to get the lighting right and not have glare on the glass, but I think I eventually managed it.
Wow - this is brilliant. Hope it was wine in the glass and you celebrated your success! Fav

@pcoulson thanks Peter. It is fun isn't it. I love your photo in b&w. I did a b&w refraction image a long time ago, but I have got better at lighting now.

@casablanca I remember the black and white pop art dresses in the 60s. I had a dress with a pattern like this in black and white in the 60s too when I was a 'Mod' Very Mary Quant

@peterday the wine wasn't in this glass, this was just water, but I needed a glass of wine after setting up this shot.

@happypat @paul10 @taffy thanks. The set up for this is very basic. I don't have any fancy equipment here. Set up is our dining table, the orange and yellow are 2 pieces of yellow A4 size paper and 2 pieces of orange A4 paper. One orange and yellow paper sitting on the dining table, glass of water sat on top of the paper and a backdrop of yellow and orange paper stuck to a piece of card. two angle poise lamps on either side of the glass and camera on a tripod. It took a while to position the lamps to avoid glare on the glass but once I figured it the rest was easy.
Peter @pcoulson tried this after seeing my photo and added this link to a YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39SmbzpedTM Hope this explains how it was done.
I did this a while ago using black and white striped gift wrap paper too.
