$7 - A Bargain by onewing

$7 - A Bargain

While we were in Hamilton a few days ago, David and I wandered into Vinnie's (Op shop). David was looking at secondhand books and I wandered round looking for things to photograph.

I came across these shoes on sale for $7. I suspect that the previous owner traded them in for a pair of plaster casts. No doubt she must have sustained a couple of broken ankles wearing these shoes.

Sorry I am a bit absent at the moment, we were out last night and today I finished putting together a photo book of my 365 photos from last year.

I have just ordered the album and it is quite scary pressing 'send' I hope there aren't any mistakes. I have proof read the book twice and so has David, so fingers crossed.
Ouch ... my feet hurt just looking at them...

Not really my style but I like the lips on the insoles!
January 16th, 2018
Gorgeous to look at!!
January 16th, 2018
Good for walking on the beach, Babs
January 16th, 2018
Well spotted Babs I notice they have the High Life style printed inside, possibly she got the broken ankles after suffering a bout of altitude sickness, lol:)
January 16th, 2018
Those are a death trap waiting to happen! LOL! What service are you using to make your photo book?
January 16th, 2018
Ha ha, I thought the same thing! All my shoes are flat as pancakes. Never figure out how girls walk in these things!
January 16th, 2018
Very funky, a true bargain ( that is if you can walk in them ).:)
January 16th, 2018
A great find ( for a photo ) !! They would be great for the extra height I need but I have enough trouble in my flatties these days !!
January 16th, 2018
I'd love to see you walking in these!
January 16th, 2018
I would look like a stork and break my legs on those ๐Ÿ˜‰
January 16th, 2018
I have to agree with your assessment of the previous owner of those shoes. I cannot see how a person could walk on shoes like those.
January 16th, 2018
such great condition! they look like they were made with a lot of care
January 16th, 2018
Do people walk in shoes like that.
January 16th, 2018
Oh my, I thought โ€œwhat, Babs bought these shoes for $7?โ€ Ha ha. They look positively cruel!
January 16th, 2018
It's no wonder that they're not showing any wear and tear. Five minutes of trying to walk in them would be akin to torture (if you could stay upright). :)
January 16th, 2018
I don"t see you wearing these Babs!!!
January 16th, 2018
LOL I'd break my neck in those. Great shot, though. :)
January 16th, 2018
Clomp clomp - who would look good and elegant in these!
January 16th, 2018
I gave up those sort of dizzie heights over 50 years ago!!
January 16th, 2018
Great find and capture :)
January 16th, 2018
I can see why they were strapped on really well. I would break my ankle and my neck in these.
January 16th, 2018
Great retro style if you could manage to walk in them
January 16th, 2018
Helen used to wear heels this high. Not sure how she never broke an ankle the way they used to buckle in them :)
January 16th, 2018
A great find & I dare say a bargain for any of these young girls these days. The girls now seem to be able to walk in anything, I have no idea how they do it! These shoes are rather splendid!
January 16th, 2018
Vertiginous ankle cuffs?
January 16th, 2018
Haha, they are just downright dangerous :)
January 16th, 2018
They do look like a lethal pair of shoes.
January 16th, 2018
Hope you bought them. Looks like they've never been worn. Maybe we know why.
January 16th, 2018
???????? but I`m a man.
January 16th, 2018
Yikes...............that's an accident waiting to happen!
Great photo though!
January 16th, 2018
I can imagine you in these walking along the beach :)
January 16th, 2018
Haha... love the paster cast comment! Those are SO high. I can't even imagine.
January 17th, 2018
@julzmaioro Mine too Julia.
@lynnz Not my style either Lynn. I think the assistant in the shop thought I was mad taking a photo.
@777margo Indeed, you wouldn't want to wear them would you.
@ethelperry Never thought of wearing them on the beach Ethel, must go back and buy them. ha ha.
@pcoulson I think I would get a nose bleed if I walked so high.
@gardenfolk I use Albumworks they are in Melbourne.
@casablanca Same here, my shoes are flat too. Sandals in summer and flat shoes in winter.
@hermann I doubt anyone would be able to walk in these shoes.
@beryl I think the assistant in Vinnies thought I was going to buy them. She kept giving me strange looks when she saw me taking photos.
@kjarn Hell would freeze over before I would attempt to walk in these.
@ludwigsdiana Me too Diana. When you see girls walking in shoes with heels this high it isn't a good look is it.
@sangwann I don't think the previous owner could walk in them either that is why they are in Vinnie's
@hrs I suspect they were only worn once before the owner ended up in A&E, ha ha.
@peterday No Peter I don't think they do walk in them, just fall over a lot.
@louannwarren Just took a photo Lou Ann. They would make my feet hurt and my eyes water if I ever tried to walk in these.
@merrelyn Ha ha, that's probably what the first owner thought after she bought them too.
@thistle Well spotted Joyce.
@mittens Me too.
January 17th, 2018
@maggiemae Nobody would look elegant in these. I have seen girls trying to walk in heels this high and it isn't a good look. Bum out, head forward and knees bent.
@craftymeg Me too Margaret.
@seattlite @henrir @carolmw I could see a few broken bones if I tried to walk in these shoes.
@paul10 Good heavens, Helen is brave.
@happypat They may look splendid Pat, but I doubt anyone could walk properly in these shoes.
@s4sayer I would struggle to walk in these. The dizzying height would make me nauseous.
@suzanne234 @littleconnie @pyrrhula @radiogirl Definitely lethal.
@kwind It was probably a good swap. I guess she learned her lesson.
@kathiecb I doubt they have ever been worn either, or maybe just once before she ended up in A&E.
@nicolecampbell They are a must for walking over the dunes at Birubi don't you think.
January 17th, 2018
I had one pair of "high" heels back in the 80's which I wore to my brother-in-law's wedding. That was it! They were stylish and made me look great but it really was tricky walking in them, let alone dancing in them. Of course I was in my late 20's and could handle it then! Not now!! They are definitely not my taste- but I could totally see my niece wearing them. And yes, she's in her 20's!
January 17th, 2018
So you weren't tempted to take them home then Babs? ;) I'm sure you will love your photobook.
January 17th, 2018
You're hysterical talking about broken ankles! I know several younger women who would love these! I don't know how they wear them!!
January 17th, 2018
Ouch, it hurts just to look at these monstrosities. Broken leg/s and or hip/s just waiting to happen, as you say.
January 17th, 2018
I could never wear these -- until I read your narrative, I thought you had just purchased them and was quite impressed at your risk-taking!
January 17th, 2018
Oh, my goodness! I can't imagine anyone walking in these shoes! Years ago I used to wear heels but NEVER anything like this. They can't possibly be comfortable...or safe.
January 17th, 2018
They won't go with your image Babs!
January 17th, 2018
They would make a good conversation starter if you displayed them in your lounge room!! & only $7.....Ha-Ha.
January 17th, 2018
What a fabulous find! I would love to see someone wearing them.
January 17th, 2018
Great find, love the lips.
January 17th, 2018
Oh I did have a good laugh at your plaster cast trade in comment. In total agreement.
As regards the album, I trust all will be well. I checked, rechecked and got my husband to check ours before ordering. Still had one comment that didn't show up because it was text in the same colour as the background. Thankfully not an important error, but it is definitely scary pressing that final button.
January 17th, 2018
Nice to look at - that's all!
January 18th, 2018
@olivetreeann I am built for comfort these days.
January 18th, 2018
@bella_ss Not tempted at all Sheralee. This is my 5th photobook, look forward to it arriving.
January 18th, 2018
@loweygrace You wouldn't be able to wear them for long would you. I doubt you could walk in them, maybe just for sitting and showing off.
January 18th, 2018
@golftragic I am sure the previous owner will be fine when she gets out of hospital.
January 18th, 2018
@taffy Good heavens Taffy, no I didn't buy them. They made my eyes water just taking photos of them thinking about the accidents that could happen.
January 18th, 2018
@gaylewood I am built for comfort these days, I have never worn high heels this high, I would get a nosebleed at that height.
January 18th, 2018
@chimfa I agree Jane.
January 18th, 2018
@happysnaps Ha ha, I could see where the conversations would be going too if they were in my house.
January 18th, 2018
@susiemc @jennywren @quietpurplehaze I couldn't see anyone being able to walk comfortably in these shoes.
January 18th, 2018
@helenhall I am sure the previous owner will be just fine when she recovers. I can't wait to see my photo book. this will be my 5th book of 365 pictures. My next big project will be to scan old photos dating back to great grandparents and putting all the photos in a photobook. I suspect that project will keep me busy for quite a while.
January 18th, 2018
@onewing Be pretty tough with the crutches.
January 18th, 2018
Wow! Think I would break my neck in those! Most of my shoes these days are flat, I go for comfort!
January 19th, 2018
they're an accident waiting to happen hahahaha
January 20th, 2018
you are funny - traded in for plaster casts, am still laughing
January 20th, 2018
Ha ha ha, you didn't buy them then Babs?
January 25th, 2018
These are seriously scary looking shoes ... great find though:)
