I thought I had a weekend to myself this weekend and had all sorts of things planned. Unfortunately, none of them happened. Yesterday a car ran into a power pole close to our house and we lost power for a few hours. Today I planned on catching up with emails and doing the vacuuming I couldn't do yesterday due to no power, but I got a call from John and Elizabeth's daughter Christine and she asked me if I would visit Elizabeth in the care home either today or tomorrow because she isn't able to get back here until Thursday, so off I went to visit Elizabeth today. We had a pleasant afternoon together though and she seems to be getting better at coping without John.
They do have lots of social things going on at the care home where she lives and I put her name down for her to go to the cinema on Tuesday to see Mamma Mia 2 so that will be fun for her.
It has been rather chilly today, but I needed a walk on the beach after visiting Elizabeth and took my crystal ball to the foreshore. I put the ball on one of the picnic tables and took this photo. You can see a very thin sliver of boats in the centre of the ball.
It was too chilly to spend too much time walking on the beach as the wind was straight off the water. I think it only reached 15 degrees c today. Still no rain though.
I may try and vacuum now before I get dinner ready as next week is going to be rather busy too.
At least I have got feathers in my wings for the good deed done today ready for when I get to heaven. I may even have to change my name on here to two wings instead of onewing, ha ha.
Beautiful photo and lovely narrative- all the best laid plans - huh?
It’s always best to go with the flow in these circumstances - you were rewarded for it already with this gorgeous photograph.
You definitely operate with atleast two wings, not one! Well done for being adaptable - and people always matter more than things. You got a lovely scene in your crystal ball.
Simply stunning perspective, colours and detail very creative Babs, possibly you will have to look into your crystal ball more often to help you see your week ahead and plan accordingly, lol:)
You sure did your good deed for the week! Lovely shot of your foreshore. I can't wait to get my hands on a ball. My daughter will bring me a 80mm one in December. Hope I chose the right size 😉
@casablanca I hope we get rain soon, but none forecast for the coming week. How does the military saying go 'All planning is flexible'
@Dawn You will have fun with it when it does arrive.
@fbailey No rain forecast in the near future unfortunately. We have even had bushfires and it is winter.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond This ball is 70 mm, I also have a 60 mm one too. A friend of mine has an 80 mm ball but it is very heavy.
@pcoulson It would be good if it could see into the future, but it only cost $10 from China with free postage, so I guess you get what you pay for. haha
@ludwigsdiana This ball is 70 mm and I also have one 60 mm. A friend has an 80 mm one but it is very heavy and you don't need one that size to get good pictures. Maybe get your daughter to change it for a smaller one or you could always have two.
Wonderful crystal ball shot...........you always take such creative photos, I never have any luck with my crystal ball. I should try it at the beach sometime!
Do you have any tips you could share on how to take a great ball shot?
This is beautiful, your crystal ball photos are amazing. I loved your narrative, you stay so busy, good for you. I have always wondered about your “onewing” now I know! So clever. Yes you are up to at least 2 wings now.
@radiogirl I just make sure the ball is in a steady surface and also the camera too. I hold the camera close to the ball to make the focus on that and not the background. It takes a while sometimes to get the light right but as long as both camera and ball are steady the focus will work out right.
@louannwarren As I have said before I won't get the halo and the harp but up until now I have only managed onewing.
I am trying to be supportive of Elizabeth at the moment especially as John has just passed away. Elizabeth has Alzheimer's disease and as long as I keep her on the subject of thing t hat happened a while ago she is fine. It is her short term memory that is the problem at the moment.
John and David were both in the RAF and held similar jobs so they had a lot in common. We also have a few mutual friends too as we moved around the world with the Forces. We also spent time together on the same RAF camps. We are really going to miss John but so glad he is no longer suffering. We have all been friends for such a long time and have been very close since they moved to Australia 15 years ago.
@onewing you are a real friend, to continue your visits and devotion to Elizabeth. She is blessed to have you in her life. Alzheimer’s is too common now, and such a horrible disease.
Sounds like you have been very productive. You definitely earned a few more feathers. I'm glad you had a nice visit with Elizabeth. This is a great photo. It is amazing how clear the image is in the crystal ball. I need to practice more with mine.
Interesting that this is on a table. Before I read your encyclopaedic description I thought it was on a deck of a pier etc. VML this macro perspective.
Its a great place to get this shot - upside down of course but you could have turned the photo upside down too! I like the analogy of feathers in the wings!
Wow, what a day you had, so much for a rest. Darn the vacuuming, it'll always keep. Love this crystal ball shot, I got one a while back but haven't test-driven it yet.
This image is very nice. We had a superbly warm winters day here today.
