Box Beach Bushfire by onewing

Box Beach Bushfire

This is the bushfire at Box Beach, Shoal Bay about 6 km from where I live.

I took this photo yesterday afternoon from Fingal Bay. Couldn't get down the track to Box Beach because it is only a track and the fire engines were all along there.

This fire is now under control but the Salt Ash fire is still burning strong.

We have just been up Gan Gan to take photos and I have no idea what I have got yet because we have only just arrived home.

Going to have dinner and then will check out today's photos.
Glad at least one of them is under control. Striking shot. Everything must smell of smoke.

A great shot and scary image at the same time. Let's hope they get the other one under control too.

Fabulous composition

Hope all is well by now. The smoke looks as though it's been sent by an American Indian!

Goodness, I hope everyone is alright

So pretty, fav

Another strong image showing the harsh times you are having. Hope all is under control very soon.

I'm so used to seeing black smoke for fires that this almost looks "clean". I'm glad it's under control- it certainly looks massive from the size of the cloud. Good shot!

So sorry and scary. Great shot of showing the fires.

Oh gosh, this is all very worrisome. We're getting reports but not knowing the exact location of the places it's hard to tell how close the fires are to you.
August 20th, 2018
@golftragic Luckily not too close. Close enough to smell plenty of smoke though but as the fire season starts they could get closer. We are at Corlette and you can look us up on Google maps. .
The Salt Ash fire is on Lemon Tree Passage Road but if it jumps the Tilligery Creek it could come on to our side of the bay.

@casablanca The wind changed direction yesterday and the smell of smoke was really strong. Much better today though.

@dide @pcoulson @ludwigsdiana @hermann @carole_sandford @annied @fbailey @lyndamcg @blueberry1222 @thistle @louannwarren @henrir @sarahlth @sangwann @seattlite @angelar @craftymeg @suzanne234 @helenhall @olivetreeann @pyrrhula Both this fire and the Salt Ash one are under control now. Luckily the wind has dropped and the weather has gone much cooler today. Now they just have to keep the fires contained and wait for them to burn themselves out.

@chimfa It does look like an Indian smoke signal doesn't it. I think it says 'The barbeque is ready'

@onewing Thanks Babs, that's helpful.

It's hard to reconcile how it first looks like a pretty cloud, and then to learn it's about the fires. Glad it is under control.

So much smoke! Good news it's under control!
August 20th, 2018
Wonderful and frightening! Pleased to hear it's under control.

Great capture. So glad that the fire got under control before it came too close to your house.

A fabulous capture but a very worrying situation.
