Oyster Beds by onewing

Oyster Beds

It is still very hot here and walking along the beach is warm work.

This is a photo of the remains of an oyster farm. The oyster beds are no longer in use but you can still see the skeleton of the farm at low tide.

If you look at the clump of trees in the centre of this picture, this is where our house is.
Lovely scene. Reminds me of one of the coastal towns here in South Africa - Knysna - that has oyster beds in the lagoon.

Looks great! I was hoping for a feed of oysters though :)

Looks like you have a cool and shady place there! Good choice. It seems to be a particularly hot Summer in Oz this year. My friend is currently travelling there and being surprised by 47 degrees when she was expecting 30s!

@salza I think there are lots of similarities between our countries.

@ludwigsdiana The RAAF chose it for us. We were posted here from Melbourne and decided to stay when we retired. It only took 16 moves with the military and three countries to find this place. ha ha.

@777margo @happysnaps @gigiflower It took a while to find this lovely place and we aren't moving again. Lived here 23 years now. We had 16 moves in our first 25 of married life and we aren't moving again.

@gilbertwood There are plenty of oyster farms on the other side of the bay it is only this one that is deceased.

@casablanca It is quite shady behind me between the beach and the road there are the mangroves and bushland. It has been very hot inland I believe but a lot cooler here on the coast.

It looks like a lovely place to live, I can understand why you don't want to move again!

lovely to see where you live Babs. Looks like a great place to be. The scene is most attractive and especially with the added dimension of the cloud cover.

@inthecloud5 @angelar @sangwann @hermann @pcoulson @jacqbb @henrir @mittens @lynnz @craftymeg @epcello @ziggy77 @carolmw @olenadole @helenhall @flowerfairyann @haskar @samae @seattlite Thanks. The bay curves round behind where I took this photo and bushland and the road is behind me too. It is here where the bushfire was a few weeks ago. So close.

Lovely view. Amazing how we've ended up where we've ended up isn't it.

Great capture of this nice place. Pitty the oysters are not longer farming.
The part of the country I live in is very famous for it. Oysters, mussels and lobsters.

Very inviting!

@chimfa It took us all a lot of moves to find our own paradise didn't it. We have had 16 moves and I suspect you have had more than us.

@pyrrhula The oyster farms are still around, they have just been moved to the other side of the bay.

@fbailey Indeed, I think the gull was making the most of the low tide and collecting crabs and pippies.

@radiogirl Thanks. It was very warm though.

Looks a lovely place to live, but I don’t think I could handle the extreme heat or the bush fires. We lived in Sydney for 15months, and a bush fire came close, we were back in NZ at the time, and our neighbours kept the house dampened. Enough for me, we went back to NZ permanently

Fascinating, Babs! What a great place to live!
