As you know I don't very often post photos of flowers, but while we were away I saw a few flowers that I was unable to identify and decided to take photos of them in case anyone on 365 would be able to tell me what they are.
Julia @julzmaioro is very good at identifying flowers for me and maybe she can tell me what this one is too.
Thanks so much for putting my Matchstick Men photo on the TT.
@julzmaioro Oh well done Julia, yes it is a Buttercup Tree. If I remember rightly now, it was rather like a shrub than just a flower.
We were walking through bushland on our way back to the car from a beach and saw it.
I will post my other mystery flower tomorrow. The second one was in the same area as this one.
They are in our nurseries here and flower in the autumn.. yes Cassia is another name.. think they are fairly shallow rooted so get top heavy and blow over..
@pusspup Now I am confused, is a Senna Corymbosa (Buttercup tree) the same as a Cassia leptophylla (gold medallion tree) because I looked a pictures of both and they look the same.
@julzmaioro ha ha told you I was hopeless when it comes to flowers. So many different names for one little flower no wonder I am confused. I have no idea how you remember them all. I learn so much on 365.
Cassia, senna- to-may-toe- to-mah-toe- no matter what you call it, it's pretty! LOL my guess was that it was an orchid! You can tell I don't live in a tropical environment!
@onewing Gee, its hard to tell isn't it! I would say its down to the leaves but I think some of the photos thrown up by Google are incorrectly labelled! Cassia is certainly a very common escapee in Aus.
If anyone else can identify it please let me know.

I think Julia has it though. Senna corymbosa (Cassia corymbosa) appear to be the same thing. Julia explains - Cassia is the species and Senna is the genus.. so same thing.. lol..come from southern USA, Uruguay and Argentina
It does have a pretty buttercup like flower and I used to love picking buttercups when I was a child.
