Thanks so much for putting yesterday's Mangrove in a Spin on the TP and the PP.
On Monday we were in Newcastle for the day and drove to Stockton where we caught the ferry across the water to the centre of Newcastle.
I have only just managed to go through the photos taken in Newcastle.
Here you can see Newcastle across the Hunter River and one thing missing is the Queen's Wharf tower which was demolished a few months ago. You do have a clearer view of the cathedral now, but it is sad that the tower has been removed.
If you look very carefully you may be able to spot the green and yellow ferry boat on the other side of the river.
In the link below you can see the tower when it was still intact.
Aww- we loved that tower - and it looks quite different without it. We remember reading something about them demolishing it but can't remember the details...
It is a strange feeling to see a city sky line change like that. I still picture the Twin Towers in the NYC skyline even with the new Freedom Tower there now. It just doesn't seem like the same city. Good shot.
@robz It was demolished in September last year. The walkway went first and then they got rid of the tower because they said it would cost too much to fix it due to rust I think it was just the developers wanting it removed though as part of the 'revitalisation' of Newcastle.
@angelar I think it would have looked better with a letterbox crop to be honest Angela pity I didn't think of it at the time.
@nicolecampbell You won't be missing much Nicole it is rather flat at the moment. New high rises etc being built but I think the centre of Newcastle will just be residential and office space in the future.

I think the removal of the tower and walkway is because of the new light rail and the supposed 'revitalisation' of Newcastle. Not much evidence of it yet though, it all looks rather sad even though the light rail is running.
