The frangipani flowers and leaves may be dying off at the moment, but the bird of paradise are flowering like wildfire right now.
We have them in the front garden and I couldn't get a really good photo of them because the backdrop was all wrong, so I picked this one and took a photo of it against the wall. It is now in a vase in my dining room.
Beautiful flower. I love these. Occasionally they are in flower shops here but very expensive. They remind me of hubby's Aunt and Uncle who we visited in Perth.
So very exotic! I remember a long time ago my mum went to Madeira on holiday & she brought me some of these back home on the plane! You have them growing wild....you couldn’t call that a weed!!
@mandygravil I imagine they would be quite expensive in the UK. Maybe I could sell some to the UK we have so many in our garden.
@happypat Thanks Pat, they are beautiful, our plant is flowering like mad at the moment. There must be over 50 flowers on it, they seem to be really enjoying our rather warm autumn weather.
@busylady What a shame. Ours grow so easily when they sprout another shoot I just cut it and plant it somewhere else in the garden and it grows. Maybe your soil is too rich for it. Being so close to the beach our soil consists mainly of sand.
@jgpittenger Thanks. I had to move it to take the photo because it is in our front garden and our neighbour across the road has lots of visitors so I couldn't take a photo without having a car in the background.
