It has been a very wet cold day today and I haven't ventured out at all. Instead I have spent the day putting together a photobook and also batch cooking meals to put in the freezer. The house smells like an Indian restaurant at the moment.
I took this photo a few days ago at Little Beach.
There is a fish filleting station next to the boat ramp at Little Beach and when fishermen are filleting their fish there is always a gang of pelicans and gulls around hoping for some of the scraps.
This pelican caught a whole fish that one of the fishermen decided he didn't want and I quickly took a photo before he swallowed it.
As you can see the tail of the fish is sticking out of its beak and the rest of the fish is totally distorting his beak and neck. I think he got the catch of the day.
Good job you explained as I might have missed the detail of the catch....can see now all you explained. How good to see these birds hanging around the fishermen! The batch baking sounds a sensible idea seeing youโre never in! ๐
Here is a link to a photo I took a few years ago at the same place where this pelican was and I have posted it again today in my topics album. You can see the station and the number of pelicans anticipating a catch. So this pelican did well to catch a whole fish. https://365project.org/onewing/topics/2019-06-24
@happypat Thanks Pat. I have put a link above to where this photo was taken. The link I have put in my topics album today, but that photo was actually taken a few years ago. Some things don't change though and the pelicans are still hopeful of a catch.
The batch cooking worked well and now I have a freezer full of meals. Very handy when I don't want to cook.
I made batches of butter chicken, chicken korma, bolognaise, beef curry and Moroccan lamb, so there are about 20 meals in the freezer now. That should keep us going for a while.
