The Plaza

This building overlooking Newcastle is now Rydges Hotel formerly Crowne Plaza.

This end of the city once housed railway sheds, marine buildings, grain sheds and fishing cottages etc.

I can see why this part of town had to be replaced with new buildings, as some were in quite a bad way to start with but after the 1989 earthquake lots of the buildings were demolished because they were in such a bad state of repair.
Looks lovely, and undoubtedly a little pricey!

I have to admit that I do love the old buildings in Newcastle, but this part of town was in need of repair after the 1989 earthquake so I do like the crispness of the new buildings.
