That was an interesting exercise... I took this photo as my "test" shot, just on the wooden table, then took about 30 more with different backgrounds, covers on the table, trying to make different patterns with the torch.
My thumb is aching from holding the torch on (the only one I could find was in my work bag) the delete button on computer has been doing overtime...and I end up liking the very first photo I tried!!
Will no doubt be doing some more experimenting with light!!
@ozziehoffy
Thanks Cass...I like your prediction!!
Credit to @gareauk1 she did a light show with playing cards. Thought I'd try for something more simple!
@onie PMSL... no, I didn't, but now I have!!! Who cares, it's red, you got the colour right and it looks like wine... perhaps you should add this tag... "I can't believe it's not wine"... ROFL!!!
Very cool! I love this, great idea and execution! That's always the way, isn't it? It's either the first or the last that turns out best... makes all the rest seem like wasted effort! but, of course, it's all the not-as-successful shots that we learn from.
@asutherland1964
Thanks Andrew. I have a few chuckles every time I see "Loonie" I have had a few variations on my name...but that's a first. I have many friends who would say you know me well!!
@polarvrtx
I certainly learnt that it is hard to get a nice spiral....some of my light lines were very wonky. I was terrified I was going to knock the glass over!
@grizzlysghost
Thanks Aaron, I still get quite excited when I get a photo that I'm really happy with, that also appeals to others. I hope it's not too windy (or wet) for our Light workshop this evening....getting quite excited about that as well!
@lindag
Thanks Lorraine. It was unbeleivable all the shots I tried...only to come back to the "test" shot. By the end I think my hand was getting tired, and the spirals were very wobbly!!
@jtsanto
Thanks for your comment, it makes the experiment so worthwhile to see all these encouraging comments. Have decided I like slow shutter....so many different effects for both day and night photos.
this is very cool! i knew i had seen this before, or something like it and was aiming for that in the abducted shot, but clearly i did something wrong ;p
@northy
I just started with the light near the desk top, then slowly spiralled my way up the glass. I used a remote shutter release, so started it, then closed the shutter when I thought I had enough spiral. It totally fascinates me how this works without showing any of your hand!!
@simon0128
I got a bit "lost" at the end of the spiral. Will try this one again though. I liked that yours had more spirals, and the definate tapering off towards the top. So hard to see what you are doing in the dark!!!

Thanks lots Crom. I now see the apple peel as well. This getting ideas and being creative is quite good fun!

Kelly's light pictures are wonderful. I actually wanted to have a go at her card one....but couldn't find a pack of cards!!

Thank you Cathy. Most of my shots are day to day, but every now and then I try new stuff. Had a look at your photos, and I love your dogs!!

Thank you for looking, commenting and of course for the Fav.
Thanks Jane. I find it quite funny now that I spent so long experimenting with this shot, and ended up liking the very first one I took!!
Thank you, I'm happy that you like it :)
It was fun and frustrating at the same time! Thank you for the Fav.
