On the rocks

This is my second attempt at long exposure with my "Big Stopper"! It's not as easy as I thought it would be! This is actually the first time I've used the "Bulb" function on my camera! I see a shutter release cable in my future! :o)
It is a beautiful image - I like the light on the horizon

Great shot. The comp is great and the timing of the shot is perfect - just the right light and tones

Love this! I'd happily hang it on my wall! I was given a variable ND filter recently that I must experiment with. Your picture is giving me some ideas :-)

I never got anything this cool, but I used my shutter release cable regularly in the 80's with my all-manual film Minolta. I finally got an electronic one for my DSLR, but I haven't used it yet!

I was so tempted to get the IRND filters (10 and 6) by Hitech last month... but decided to wait a bit. When you get it figured out let us in on your secrets :) This came out great Jerry!

This is gorgeous!!! Well the Steelers stink, but at least our Pirates are in the playoffs. First time in about 20 years!
October 3rd, 2013
@salza wowowowo You were "given a variable ND filter recently"!!!!! That is better than a crystal ball in my estimation!! Wow, Sally!
October 3rd, 2013
This is totally stunning, Jerry! Fav! What do you mean by your "big stopper"? I so so so want to get an ND filter but don't know which way to go.
October 3rd, 2013
@kwiksilver Lol! I thought the same thing! The "big stopper" is a 10 stop ND filter made by Lee. It allows these long exposure shots to be taken in the middle of the day. They are so dark you can't even see through them!
October 3rd, 2013
@orangecrush thanks, Jerry. I've just bookmarked a whole lot of discussions about ND filters .... now I've just got to read them and hope I can understand ;)

Gorgeous! I thought of you this morning when I looked out and saw rocks poking out as the tide went down. I wanted so badly to go out and do some slow shutter shots but life prevented it. Maybe tomorrow!!
October 4th, 2013
Very nice one!
October 4th, 2013
Fabulous shot!! I can't believe you did this without a shutter release -- you are so steady! You will love a cable release. Wonderful long exposure.
October 4th, 2013
@kwind I hope you get a chance to try it! I could use a little company! :)
