I was wondering what interesting things I might find in my yard today... I was not disappointed! When I first saw this guy, it was from the other side of the leaf and all I could see was his body down to the back legs, but his underside... and he was just hanging there, or so I thought. I chuckled cos I thought how odd it was and perhaps he was sunning himself.
I'm really glad that I decided to have a look at the other side of the leaf because this is what I found! To get this shot... I WAS IN PAIN lol. I had one foot up in the garden and then I had to straddle and the other foot down on the ground ... so I was lopsided and weight bearing was all wrong and OMG the arch of my foot down on the ground hahah... OUCH!
Because I didn't want f/2.8, I really had to play a little with the exposure and ISO... I really need to learn and understand this better, then I wouldn't have to take so many shots with slight modifications lol... in the end, I think that I did ok :)
Amazing capture. I have never had an opportunity to see a grasshopper shed its skin. Fantastic timing and great shot on your part. Definately worth the effort you had to make to get the shot.
@cromwell Thanks Crom!! You rock! I didn't know either until about a week ago.. I found a FULL shed skin... I tried to get some shots of it where it was in the garden, but the light was so bad and it was a little breezy so it kept moving... so I gave up... BUT... I still have it for a rainy day ... so one day, it will pop up!!
Very cool thing to see! If you are talking about f 2.8 you have a macro lens right? What type do you have? And I can feel your PAIN about getting into odd positions and holding them....I really do view it as my work out like pilates or yoga or whatever....it has helped with my core and leg strength and flexibility!
Thank you all so very much for your comments and favs! It's truly so amazing to get such wonderful responses. So very much appreciated. Thank you so much!
@espyetta Yes, talking about macro. I have the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro. I do love it!
@clarkafb_brat Thanks John... I think you may be looking at the skin legs ;)
@seanoneill Thanks Sean. His back legs are actually pulled right up (they're the ones sticking up - well pointing to the bottom of this shot) near the front.. the "glass" ones are the skin he's just pulled them out of. I have an earlier shot where you can see his legs still half way inside the skin!!
@netkonnexion Thanks very much!! :)
@buccigrossi Thanks Brian :)
@boogie Thanks Mags :)
@tesnonian Thanks so much, Sharon :)
