Oskar found 3 tiny little praying mantis' yesterday. Only a few cm long. I tried to get a shot of one, but cos they sway so much and it was a little breezy, it was near impossible to get a clear shot of one.
He kept them in his bug catcher overnight and decided to release them today... only to want them back again and then release AGAIN!
My camera battery was flashing so I wasn't sure I'd get much at all lol. I was also talking on the phone when this little guy went to the top of the small tree they were on and actually STAYED STILL!! Well, still enough to snap off a few shots before changing poses... this is my favourite pose... "The Thinker". He's looking far down the barrel lol. It was around 5pm and the light was fading VERY fast. I think the main reason I was able to get this was because it was straight against the sky, meaning that I didn't have to up ISO and stuff to get a faster shutter speed :)
I like the detail along the broken edge of the leaf too.
wow... great capture! looks so good in almost-silhouette, with just that hint of detail! and I'm impressed with your wonderful multi-tasking photography =D
