"Floating" set up

A few people were curious about how I set up the shot, "floating". Luckily I had taken a few photos on my phone to show a couple of people ... this is my proof that I need a ff camera lol. The camera was literally only just below the ceiling light. About 5ish cm below.

I have the glass set between the 2 kids tables with a lightbox underneath it, laying on it's back. Because my camera is a crop sensor, I had to keep moving higher and higher above to get the shot in the frame!! I ended up moving the little dude up a bit higher and bending his legs up also as I had basically hit the light on the ceiling and couldn't get any higher lol. This is where a lot of my shots happen if they are indoors... in my kitchen... usually on the cooktop which is above the oven that you can see.

Here is the shot... http://365project.org/ozziehoffy/365
that's awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this Cassandra!

@wind_of_the_sothern_sea No problem :) Glad I took some pics on the phone lol. Perhaps I should do that more often, just in case lol.

This is so helpful to see! The shot was great and it makes so much sense seeing the visuals of how you set it up.

@lorrainerb LOL... well... I ended up with a little bit of a fire one night from trying to do both... OOPS!!! So, now when I do dinner I need to make sure my mind is on it.

@taffy You're welcome, glad it helps.

Nia
Wow, that height of the camera is crazy and balanced on chair and tables.

Omg! When I started 365 and saw gorgeous photos like your flying balloon man, I assumed it was being done in some tidy "home studio" with lots of space and umbrella lights. I have been learning otherwise. This was loads if prep work! I am even more impressed now. Love your super cool kitchen too! That hood over the range is cool.

Speaking of pics on phone, when I did all that work for my Ditch masters still life shot, and set up tripod and used two lenses... Then a apes some pics with iPhone before I took down the stuff. Yep... Ended up using the iPhone pic for my final.kind of by accident as I was tired and could process in be on iPad and post from bed. Haha

Thank you for the setup shot! Can you share some details about the light box? Is it related to photography equipment or you bought it from electrical aisle?

Thanks for sharing that with us - it's always nice to see how images came to be!

I don't know if it is an optical illusion, but your little dude looks huge!! My little dude is little, about 10cm from head to toe!

@sianipops lol I was pretty nervous... even just taking this shot I walked really slowly so that I didn't make anything move haha... we have floorboards.

@espyetta lol ooooh nothing "home studio" about any of my shots!! Thanks... not finished yet though... all above those cupboards and rangehood still needs building in.

@ikamera It's a photography lightbox. I actually got that one off a friend who didn't need it any longer. She bought it for using for lighting in videos. It's a constant light source, not one that is also flash/speedlight.

@pocketmouse lol call me stubborn... it wasn't going to beat me!

@onie_m haha no, he is 30cm. I want a smaller one... if you find one, let me know!

I see that it needs building in now. I was on my ipad when I was looking so could not totally see that. Gorgeous kitchen in the making. This photo set up is crazy amazing!
