Flying low & straight! We used to have loads of curlews in our fields, you had to mind where you put your feet as of course they nest on the ground! They used to try & distract us when we were hay making, not a good place to bring up young right in the middle of a field. I would think this is a river, I thoughtbat first the sea but think curlews are more land based.
