Phnom Penh

A short cruise boat on the Tonle Sap can be hired along Riverside for about 3 or 4 USD a person (a year ago it was 12-15 USD an hr depending on your bargaining skills). The boats vary in size and river worthiness- although I haven't seen one actually sink yet- so it's definately a case of buyer beware. Most people go out just before sunset with a picnic or catered meal and drinks and while away a couple of hours looking at Phnom Penh from a very different angle than usual. I don't know whether I would have been happy being on a boat this evening though with another thunder storm looming.
Wonderful pic!

I like your pictures of Tonle Sap and the constant storms looming. Is this correct that the prices for hiring a boat have gone down in the last year?

No effectively they've gone up as most 'parties' on the boat are 5 or 6 plus people. It is a common thing to do for work drinks/farwells etc which can make it a lot more expensive. I dont think the boats would go out with just 2 or 3 people (they'd probably want more money) altho on a slow day anything's worth a shot.

Gorgeous! I love the color contrast with the bright boat and murky water. That sounds like a fun outing but you're right, those dark clouds do look a little intimidating!

The colors from the stormy sky are very pretty, but I would not like the thunderstorms, that the come with it. I really like this photo.
