On Tuesday we joined a couple of Canadians, a Singaporean, Malaysian, German, two Aussies and Yukiko our pint sized rocket fuelled guide on the Great Tokyo Cycling Tour. We were led in a huge circle from Shinkawa along the Sumida River to the Tsukiji Fish Market, for tea and a welcome icy cold flannel, then on through Harumi crossing over various bridges to Odaiba where we had lunch on the sand at Tokyo Bay. Bento boxes emptied we wheeled our bikes onto the ferry across the bay to Hinode pier, past the Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, through 'Mitsubishi Village' (aka the CBD) and back to the beginning visiting temples, shrines and stopping for an ice cream in the park on the way. It was such a fantastic day I would not hesitate to do it again next time we are in Tokyo.
The picture shows Mac, astride his stead for the day, in the Tokyo Bay area with Rainbow Bridge in the background.
Gee that sounds like such an adventure. You are right I shouldn't complain too much as my son is close. Matter of fact he already said he may come home this weekend (and I am embarrassed to say my first thought was...but you have only been gone for 2 weeks haha)
You got a lot of places to see and met some great people to enjoy this tour with. sounds like you all had fun.the picture of the city with that gorgeous bridge in it looks great.
