My sister's Amaryllis has opened up this week and it is spectacular as it has grown to about four feet in height and has enormous flowers opening. I have taken a macro shot for my mentoring group as we are doing colour and shape this week. Not sure you can see enough shape here. @taffy@newbank@888rachel@golftragic

Thank you for your good wishes for my sister. She is feeling fine after her small operation and we now have to wait for the biopsy results - fingers crossed all will be ok.

Pam, this is wonderful for a few reasons (to me) -- the color is fabulous, with the textures coming through, and then the perfect placement of the stamen. Well done!!
@taffy@newbank, @888rachel Oh wow Pam, what a stunning shot. The composition is spot-on, the rich colours are gorgeous, the lighting's just right and the lines in the petals make a bee-line into the stamen. What more can one ask? Fav.
This, to me, is exactly what macro is about. I love the line details on the flower, and how the stamen is so sharp. The colour is also deep and rich. A wonderful shot! Fav
