I felt quite sad this morning when I woke up to the news that the Referendum vote was for the UK to leave the EU. After watching wall to wall coverage I decided to get away from all the "news" and go to the country park with Finlay.
The air was full of blue damselflies and I managed to get a few shots and then I suddenly saw this beautiful demoiselle fluttering around. I was pleased when she landed and allowed me to get a couple of shots. It was good to be able to get out into the countryside and see what a stunning country the UK is. Yes sunshine this morning and rain this afternoon. A perfect English summer!!
Many thanks for your great comments on yesterday's Chicago image - very much appreciated!!
I've already had my rant about UK leaving the EU to Peter Coulson. Unbelievable.
There was an excellent interview here last night with some dude from Chatham House who said that many of the "leave" votes were based on things that had nothing to do with UK's membership of the EU but that people just wanted to lodge a protest vote against David Cameron/banks/big business/big end of town/football hooliganism/you-name it. Talk about cutting your own throat just to watch the blood run.
Donald Trump and Boris Johnson as their countries' leaders? The mind boggles!!!!!
Well I am the odd one out & was happy with the result! My leave vote had only to do with trade on our own terms, the waste & misuse of money in the EU & to run our own country with our elected ministers. We will be joined by other countries too if they have their way. 48% of the country unhappy so it's not a good result that way & we need to have so one strong & calm to steer us to safer waters. Not Boris!
I should have written none of that I know but it was mentioned so couldn't resist, sorry folks!
Stunning jewl colours Pam.
Excellent shot of this colourful bug Pam. As for the Brexit, lots of doom and gloom here about how it may affect all sorts of things in Oz. The gulf between the English/Welsh vote and the Scottish/N.Irish vote is particularly concerning.
Lovely shot - and my view on leaving the eu! Was feeling scared yesterday but today I'm thinking it was the right move! They have tried to introduce too many countries and if had kept it smaller then we would have felt more control. I think other countries may follow suit now!
