Today there was a shoot on the farm and we were invaded by lots of men with their guns and dogs. There were youngsters who had flags which they used to scare the ducks off of the lakes into the path of the guns. Finlay hated the sound of the guns and we hated seeing the ducks falling from the sky. It went on for the whole afternoon and they were even shooting as it was getting dark and the ducks were coming back to roost on the lakes.
As you can tell I am a towny and not used to guns and hunting. Finally all quiet now and Finlay and I can relax.
Sadly today was the day three friends drove over to join us for lunch so we couldn't escape the shooting!! We were also unable to walk round the lakes which I had hoped to do. I hope they choke on their ducks!!
I have lived on a farm all my married life & we too hate shooting if any sort. We loved the birds & wild life around us & none of my men ever owned a gun. Great photo though Pam.
@happypat I spoke to Joyce the farmers wife who owns the cottages we are staying in and she said she hates it. It's the men in the family who do the shooting. All the shooters were men and it was teenage boys and younger waving the flags beating the birds out of the lake. Goodness knows how many mallards were killed today!!
@taffy Only seeing this for the first time, I was *just about* to write your identical words! Make that "Times Two" Pam...I'm not a country girl, either.
