Welcome to Ferryland by pamknowler

Welcome to Ferryland

Yesterday on our trip down the coast south of
St John's we eventually arrived at Ferryland. I wanted to stop off there as it is the place that the huge iceberg got stuck over the Easter weekend. It even made the news in the UK!! Google it to see the size - WOW!! Of course it had moved on and there was no sign of it now. It seems that over that weekend there were traffic jams of cars, driving through this hamlet of 500 people, who wanted to see the spectacle up close. Of course we had to have a photo to tell where we were!!

Many thanks for your lovely comments om my Newfoundland images!! We arrived back in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia today and I will be staying here with Louise and Ken until next Friday. I am looking forward to rediscovering the gorgeous area of Lunenberg - I just love it here!!
Great capture. There must be a lot of history in a place that old!

We were all hoping that an iceberg that had made headlines around the world (California, too!) would still be there! No such luck, but at least there were no traffic jams! I wanted a picture at this site to send to @pyrrhula , Ferry, as I'm sure it will bring a smile to his face knowing that, along the shores of Newfoundland, people were thinking of him! The day out driving and exploring was a delight and a photographer's gift!

We never made it there. Can't decide if you're cruising or travelling by car?

@busylady Judith we had a house in St John's booked for the week and we kept it on when we drove up to Trinity for two days/ nights where we investigated the area. This was fabulous as we saw so many icebergs! We had a hire car and when back in St John's toured all round that area. Now back in Nova Scotia until Friday when I fly home. It's been a fabulous holiday touring with Louise and Ken!
