Teasel by pamknowler

Teasel

Another shot from yesterday. I love to see the teasels with the sun behind them.

Feeling really fed up as I should have been out with Rosie @rosiekind today but I have done something to my back and have lots of pain on the left hand side. It has been niggling for the last couple of weeks but I must have done something yesterday as I am now in lots of pain. I am worried because we are due to go to Devon on Friday - a six hour drive. I just hope I am ok by then. Being very careful!! Just so sorry I couldn't make it over to have a catch up with Rosie!!

I am wondering if carrying my Canon 5D 111 round yesterday with my 100-400mm lens was the final straw as they say - it really is very heavy!! Perhaps its time to change and go light weight?

Many thanks for your great comments and Favs on yesterdays uploads - it was so lovely to see 2 of them on the PP - It seems to get harder to get on there these days so I do appreciate it when I get there!!
@rosiekind So sad I couldn't make it today Rosie as I was so looking forward to having a catch up!!

Lovely shot and nice DOF with the colour of the background flowers providing a nice backdrop while still maintaining focus on the teasel Fav

Ooow Pam. This is beautiful. Sharp focus, wonderful lighting - and the varying textures! I love the sharp patterns of the body of the flower contrasting with the wonderfully curled tendril on the left! Like your use of DOF too! Insta-fave!
I hope your back is feeling better as I write this.p.s. I've kept both my canons but like you, the weight - esp. when I'd hurt my back - I have to say - I love my Olympus Mirror-less cameras - I literally keep one with me at all times now! If you can borrow one from a camera shop and see if it suits you... but I love the two I have. Sending healing thoughts!

Great focusing, a lovely shot. Fav!! 😀. Hope the back gets better quickly. It can be so debilitating. I'm waiting to see the back specialist in September.

Oh gosh -- take good care of yourself! I imagine lugging that lens would contribute -- but what a fantastic shot as a result. Hang in there...and feel better soon.

I love teasels, there are still a few to be found in places around here. I've got a big vase of them to enjoy. So sorry to hear about your crook back, been there, done that (twice) and got the tee-shirt(s) so I know only too well what you're going through. Do hope you get some relief soon, back pain is so debilitating. Sounds like you were carrying a heck of a lot of weight with that gear, maybe the last straw scenario. Whatever, do hope you feel better soon.

This is so pretty, the teasels are so appealing. So sorry to hear about your back. The 100-400mm is a beast of a lens, but so good too. Maybe going mirrorless is on the cards?

Bummer re your back and so disappointing to miss the meet up

Beautiful beautiful capture! Sorry to hear that you are in pain, and hope that you recover in time for your trip to Devon. I agree with those that have said going mirrorless might be a good decision. Take a listen to this podcast http://www.photopodcasts.com/podcasts/q-a-2-ppn-july-18th-2017 it is by Scott Bourne a professional bird photographer who made the switch from high end canon to Olympus Micro Four Thirds (he dislikes Fuji and I love Fuji so it is not that I am a fan girl of his). He shoots with the updated version of the camera body @rosiekerr shoots with, it is a super camera and the images he, Rosie and other photographers get from it are amazing. It all depends if you can let go of the full frame and make the move to a smaller sensor. I would say be open minded, do your research, rent the camera and see what is best for you!

I am so sorry about your back and all the pain. Argh!! A lovely shot. I picked the Oly and the mirrorless 4/3 system for the reduced weight. Sometimes I wonder if a full frame might be better, image-wise, but I have been very pleased with the quality from my 4/3 system and can carry every bit of gear in a single backpack. I am hoping things resolve with your back. If you have any questions about the mirrorless 4/3 cameras, just drop me a line.
