I tried to do some HDR shots last night and the only flower I had indoors was this orchid. It didn't work out as I expected in colour and in fact did not look much different to one of the original shots (out of bracketed 3 shots) which were set at +/- one stop. I expected to see more detail/texture - probably the wrong kind of flower to use.
I decided to turn the shot to B&W using Nik efex for my shot of the day. Not what I set out to do but I liked the final effect.
I am desperately trying to find some interesting buildings to try with HDR. Hoping to find some in Derbyshire when I go next week.
Many thanks for all your lovely comments on yesterday's shots - very much appreciated. I was thrilled to see yesterday that I had two shots on the PP - my Fly shot and the clematis were both there - what a lovely surprise as I hadn't even realised!!
@mittens Thanks Marilyn - I have been looking for interesting buildings near where I live but you either can't get near or can't take photos. Off to Derbyshire next week and going to Chatsworth House so hopefully I will get something good there.
Had to smile to myself thinking of you out there searching for things to shoot in HDR! Too bad the flower didn't work out. Did you use a tripod and low ISO? Maybe space them a full stop above and below? Or 2?
@taffy yes I used a tripod and it was 1 stop above and below. I will try again with 2 stops maybe. I really want to try hdr with buildings so I will be on the hunt! I go away to Derbyshire tomorrow and I am sure I will find what I am looking for! Fingers crossed! Lol!
I love this shot like this, so it turned out well. Someone put up a stunning HDR of a wooden horse trailer the other week, and the wood texture really pops with HDR. I don't know if this can give you any ideas? Fav by the way!
I was abuot to leave a comment on the colored orchid when I spotted the B&W... My initial thought was that an orchid couldn't possibly be as beautiful without the coloration, but I was wrong! This is very sophisticated!
Buildings are good for playing with HDR. Have fun with it.
