9th November 2014 - Empty Tables

Another shot from Bakewell. My sister says this one is not street photography but I am not sure. I saw this courtyard which only a few weeks ago would have been heaving with people sitting out in the sunshine. There was an empty eerie feel as I walked through.
For my mentoring group

Many thanks for your great shots on yesterday's street shot of Bakewell. I was very pleased with the response from you all.
@taffy @newbank @888rachel @golftragic @sullivar Not sure about this one - does it come under the heading Street Photography" Is it too pretty? Should I be looking for a more gritty feel? Should I be trying to tell a story?

Beautiful cozy area and nice capture of it.

That looks like a pretty courtyard. Here is a definition from the internet "Street photography is photography that features the human condition within public places and does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment"

@elaine55 Many thanks for that Elaine!! I just have to find the "human condition" !! LOL!!

Pretty spot to sit. I like the orange and red colors.

Lovely colours - looks a nice place for refreshment on a warm day!

Aren't we all in the Northern Hemisphere already missing the places like this that we can eat out. It looks like such a lovely space.
November 9th, 2014
Lovely! We were there on the warm 31st Oct - so cold now though!
November 9th, 2014
Lovely shot, it looks like a very pretty place to sit and relax.

Great shot. At least the tourist season would have lasted longer with the better weather this year. Fav

Love the grape vines turning red.
November 9th, 2014
The "human condition' here is that they don't want to sit down on those seats any more even if it is still an attractive place!
November 9th, 2014
I don't care whether it qualifies as street photography or not, it's a lovely shot--especially that colourful vine--and I'm faving it.
November 9th, 2014
I would definitely call it Street photography! Unfortunately the human factor is missing. But then not every Street is crowded with people.
November 9th, 2014
I know I would enjoy sitting there having a nice cup of tea! Fav

It looks so folorn

I'm not sure if it is or not. It's all new to me. But it is a lovely shot anyway, framed beautifully with those leaves.
November 10th, 2014
lovely shot whatever genre it falls into :)
November 10th, 2014
The braid of leaves across the courtyard are fabulous :)
November 10th, 2014
I beg to disagree with your sister. I'd class this as street photography.
November 11th, 2014
I think there are as many definitions as there are images and this certainly speaks to both the human need to socialise and therefore to have places to socialise in and also to the fickle human need for warmth and thus the abandonment of such places in colder weather - that said - this is a lovely imge and the subject was created by people for people to use - ergo street photography!

@kittikat Many thanks for that Kitti it all makes sense when you put it like that. All becoming a lot clearer!! LOL!!
