One from Saturday when I visited the garden centre where they had a fabulous display of owls. This gorgeous bird had his eyes closed and i thought he was asleep. The chap in charge told me to gently stroke the birds chest. I hadn't even touched the bird when his eyes opened and he gave me this look. I don't think he wanted to be stroked!!
Many thanks for your kind words of concern for Finlay. I took him to the vet and he is now on antibiotic tablets and anti inflammatory syrup. He has to stay away from other dogs - I had to leave him in the car until the vet was ready for him. He has to go back again next week. I don't think he is coughing as much as he was yesterday.
This is great -- how brave to be willing to pet an owl! But the result was worth it -- the eyes are amazing. Just saw your reference to Finlay...glad he's doing better but must go check on what happened!
@maggiemae Finlay was vaccinated but the vet said dogs can still get it. It could be any number of infections and without a blood test they can't tell exactly which one. They all have the same treatment though so no point at this stage in having expensive bloods done. He hasn't coughed as much today.
While I'm on a roll:
Just then, with a wink and a sly normal lurch,
The owl, very gravely, got down from his perch,
Walked round, and regarded his fault-finding critic
(Who thought he was stuffed) with a glance analytic,
And then fairly hooted, as if he should say:
âYour learningâs at fault this time, anyway;
Donât waste it again on a live bird, I pray.
Iâm an owl; youâre another. Sir Critic, good-day!â
And the barber kept on shaving.
