If you look closely you can see the wounds on the side of the stags head near his eye. Also there is blood on the back of his neck. It looks like he has been doing some fighting and come off worse. He was all alone hopefully recovering from his fights. I wonder what the other one looked like? Just look at the size of his antlers!!

Loving animals as I do, it strikes me as so sad that a beautiful creature like this has to suffer war wounds to find some love in life... Your picture is spectacular! So glad I didn't miss it!
