11th November 2014 - 1918

While going through our old photos this morning we found lots of silk handkerchiefs and cards sent to my Mum from her Uncle Burt who was in France during the war. They are very fragile now and this card is the one in the best condition.

At first I thought how strange this one was as a "Souvenir of France" but I now see the two number 1s are in fact the Union Jack and the US flag. Not sure what the 9 and the 8 represent.
What a wonderful momento. I love how the allied flags are represented in the date. I thought the 9 could be France and the 8 Belgium?
